Pacquiao slips by Marquez!

After battling to a draw in their first bout, Manny Pacquiao (46-3-2, 34 KOs) won a split decision over Juan Manuel Marquez (48-4-1, 35 KOs) to take Marquez' WBC super featherweight title on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. Marquez seemed to have an edge in the early rounds as he was able to land clean counter shots against Pacman's aggressions. Pacquiao floored Marquez at the end of round three with a left hand and nearly put him down again at the bell. Marquez went to the wrong corner. Pacquiao continued to fight hard in the fourth but Marquez responded well. Marquez landed some good rights in the fifth as pressure from Pacquiao subsided. The fight continued at a slow pace in the sixth, which was favorable to the technically superior Marquez as he continued to outbox Pacman. Both Pacquiao and Marquez were cut by an unintentional headbutt in the seventh. The blood inspired Pacquiao, who had his best round since the fourth. It was Marquez, who opened up the cut over Pacquiao's right eye in the eighth and he punished Pacquiao the entire round. Pacquiao had his rhythm back in the ninth landing some good shots. Marquez' cut worsened. Pacquiao rocked Marquez again in the tenth. Marquez may have taken the last two rounds. Scores were 115-112, 114-113 Pacquiao, 115-112 Marquez.
